Content Distribution Checklist

A checklist for distributing content across all relevant channels to maximize reach and engagement.

Pre-Distribution Preparation

  • Confirm the content is published and the URL is live
  • Write 3-5 different social copy variations for different platforms
  • Create platform-specific visuals (LinkedIn image, Twitter/X card, Instagram story)
  • Prepare an email-friendly summary (150 words max)
  • Identify internal subject matter experts who can share or comment on the post
  • Add UTM parameters to all distribution links for tracking

Owned Channels

  • Publish a blog post or landing page on your website
  • Send to your email newsletter subscribers
  • Add to your email nurture sequences where relevant
  • Include in your next customer newsletter
  • Update relevant website pages with a link to the new content
  • Add to your resource library or content hub

Social Media Channels

  • Post on LinkedIn company page with a native image or document
  • Share on LinkedIn personal profiles (leadership team, SMEs, SDRs)
  • Post on Twitter/X with a thread format for long-form content
  • Share in relevant LinkedIn groups
  • Post in relevant Slack communities, Discord servers, or forums
  • Create a short video teaser for social media (under 60 seconds)
  • Set up paid promotion on LinkedIn for high-value content
  • Run retargeting ads pointing to the content
  • Share with partners for co-promotion or inclusion in their newsletters
  • Submit to relevant industry publications or syndication platforms
  • Pitch as a guest post topic to complementary blogs

Internal Distribution

  • Share in the company Slack channel with a brief summary
  • Notify the sales team with a one-liner on how to use the content in conversations
  • Add to the SDR sequence library if the content supports outreach
  • Brief the CS team if the content is relevant for customer conversations

Post-Distribution Tracking

  • Monitor engagement metrics at 24 hours, 72 hours, and 7 days
  • Track traffic by channel using UTM parameters
  • Record lead conversions attributed to the content
  • Note top-performing channels and copy variations for future reference
  • Schedule a reshare on social media for 2 weeks and 4 weeks after initial publication
